Review of the year 2023

Review of the year 2023

Heitkamp wishes you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

We would like to take this opportunity for a brief review of an intensive 2023 and a news update.

Start of the Val Varuna II project

After we were awarded the contract in spring, we started the Val Varuna II project in July. By the winter break, the construction site had been set up, the Privilasco and Cadera pre-cuts constructed, the auxiliary bridge installed at the Cadera portal and the first pipe umbrellas drilled at both portals. During the total closure, the carriageway and base slabs were successfully installed as planned. After the winter break, work will resume at full speed.
Brandberg tunnel completed

Together with ARGE Tunnel Brandberg, we were able to complete the Brandberg Tunnel project in Winden im Elztal, Germany. The noise protection panelling and noise barriers were completed in spring. The asphalt for the carriageway was then laid and the tunnel was coated. The work was completed in summer 2023 and the project was handed over to the client without any defects. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for their great commitment.
SiSto Kerenzerberg - work in full progress

Once the TBM had been dismantled, the excavation and concreting work began on the two sub-centres. The cross-connections and ventilation tunnels were excavated and secured up to the existing tunnel tube. In the summer, the installation of the service duct elements, the backfilling of both sides with excavated material and the concreting of the in-situ concrete base began at the Tiefenwinkel lot boundary. At the same time, concreting work continued in the longitudinal cavern.
We wish all those involved a successful and accident-free continuation of the project.
Versasca tunnel contract awarded

In autumn, the "Partial renovation of the Versasca Tunnel, master builder work" project was awarded to HCS. In this project, we will renew one section by mining and the other by cut-and-cover and renovate the retaining and wing walls. Work is scheduled to start after the 2024 winter break.
Tunnel Las Ruinas awarded

The Graubünden Civil Engineering Office has awarded the construction of the "Las Ruinas" tunnel to ARGE Ruinas. The objection period runs until the end of 2023.
